Functionality means nothing if the product itself can’t withstand the rigorous trials of use. Not only has the Grip Pod ® been proven to withstand the weight of a 240 pound man, but the U.S. Army also tested all known bipods in an open competition for use on the M16A2, M16M4, and M16A4, in CQB, medium, and long range applications. Very harsh testing was conducted for over 9 months. Unlike the Grip Pod®, most of the bipods broke. The Grip Pod® passed the drop test and only weighed 7 oz. It was the lightest of all the bipods in testing, with some weighing up to five times as much. – – – So we’ll not only stand behind our product… We’ll stand ON it.
When every moment could mean the difference between victory and defeat, the speed of your weapon’s accessories must be strictly tested. With a simple push of a button, the Grip Pod ®’s legs extend in just two tenths of a second. The Grip Pod ® still stands as the fastest automatic bipod fully adopted by the United States Military, having been speed-tested against it’s rival bipod systems.
Unlike other FORWARD GRIP BIPODs, the Grip Pod® has been strictly battlefield tested by professional soldiers in the world’s harshest of environments. After rigorous use, the Grip Pod® System has been considered durable enough, quick enough, and useful enough to be fully adopted and continuously used by the toughest soldiers in the world.
The Grip Pod has been adopted by the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as well as other federal, state, and tactical law-enforcement organizations.
During accuracy testing, shooters fired repeated 10-shot groups at 100 meters with and without a Grip Pod under a 30-second time limit designed to reflect the firing pace of standard U.S. Army rifle qualification.
Across the combined M4 and M7 data, average dispersion improved from 7.44 MOA without a Grip Pod to 3.3 MOA with a Grip Pod. Hits on a 12 x 18-inch torso target went from 51% without a Grip Pod to 97% with a Grip Pod at 300 meters, and 15% versus 51% at 600 meters.
During durability testing, a Grip Pod withstood a 240-pound person standing on the deployed legs, as well as a 4ft drop test onto concrete while deployed on a fully equipped M16/M4 rifle.
The testing program also included evaluation and commentary from Daniel Horner, a 14-time multi-gun national champion, two-time International Sniper Championship winner, SOCOM Sniper Champion, JSOC Sniper Champion, five-time Mammoth Sniper Champion, and an instructor of Tier 1 operators for more than 15 years.
Horner reported that using a Grip Pod significantly improved group size across shooters regardless of background. He stated that the added stability can improve qualification performance and combat effectiveness. He also noted the value of a support system on the heavier, higher-recoil M7 platform, particularly when terrain, firing angle, or prolonged time in position makes unsupported prone shooting more difficult.
